Turkish researchers at Istanbul Medipol University argue that regular aspirin restores potency no less effective than Viagra.
The study involved 184 people. The average age of men was 48 years, 70% of them at the time of the study could not achieve erection. For 6 weeks, 120 of them received one aspirin tablet (100 mg) daily, and 64 – placebo.
Evaluation of sexual function was carried out on a 30-point scale. By the end of the experiment, this indicator in the group that received aspirin increased from 14.3 (baseline, less than 50%) to 21.3 (total, over 75%). For Viagra, the same figures are, respectively, 48% and 81%. That is, the effectiveness of aspirin is only slightly lower than that of Viagra.
Scientists believe that the secret lies in the concentration of platelets. In some men, they are large and produce too much thromboxane, a substance that slows down blood circulation. Aspirin thins blood, and this explains its effect on male potency.
Researchers warn that patients with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases did not take part in their experiment, namely these two groups of pathologies are the main risk factors for the development of erectile dysfunction. In addition, aspirin has contraindications, so its long-term use should be discussed with the doctor beforehand.
